At Forest Keepers Tree Care, we have an our own crane, with an articulating, extensible boom for supreme maneuverability in tight quarters. Featuring a reach of over 90′ and a lift capacity of greater than 10,000 lb. We can handle huge logs far beyond the capability of traditional brush grapples. Our grapple and crane slings ensure secure removal of logs of various sizes. Additionally, we have a bucket truck with a material handler and 75′ of reach to aid in rigging set up. Forest Keepers Tree Care is highly proficient at the art of technical rigging, with years of experience handling the toughest tree-related situations. This means we can handle your difficult hanging broken limb, even with sensitive landscaping, water features, patios, or outbuildings below. We “know the ropes” and have a full selection of pull ropes, cables, slings, pulleys, GRCS lowering device, crane, and a winch. This enables us to safely handle large overhanging branches up to and exceeding 2,000 lbs.
What is the difference between tree trimming and pruning? While many regard the two terms as interchangeable, we look at it as a little more nuanced than that. Tree trimming is bit a more utilitarian category than fine pruning work. While still maintaining the same principles that promote a healthy tree when the work is completed, we look to meet the homeowner’s objectives when doing tree trimming. Are there dangerous or excessively heavy limbs overhanging the roofline of the house? Are the branches growing up into power lines or communication wires? Is there a storm risk in high winds or ice of branches losing integrity and causing property damage? We assess these and many other factors when we trim back a tree. Lightening long limbs greatly reduces the chance of breakage in wind and storm conditions.Even if the goal is to reduce the overall size and control growth in a tree, we look at the overall picture and select the best limbs and cutting points to bring the tree back to a proper, healthy place. Cabling and bracing systems are used to provide supplemental support to leaders, individual branches, and/or entire trees. When a tree has a structural defect or condition that can not be corrected by pruning alone,and poses a high risk of failure, a supplemental support system can often reduce this risk.Co-dominant StemsTrees that have two or more main trunks are often prone to failure when under a stress such as a high wind event or excessive snow load. When two or more stems grow up along side of each other the distribution of limbs along each of the stems is out of balance and gravity naturally wants to pull the various stems in opposite directions. this Problem is often compounded by the defect of included bark between the stems. Included bark between trunks will over time create an outward pressure as the tree grows, pushing the two stems apart from each other. There is no knitting together of wood fiber to create a strong joint, as will happen with most normal branch unions.Supplemental SupportCables restrict the distance that branches can move in relation to each other.
